বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডার কী?What is the Bangla calendar?
বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডার বাংলাদেশ ও বাঙালি মানুষের পুরনো ও পরিচিত পঞ্জিকা। এতে বছরকে ১২টি মাসে ভাগ করা হয় — বৈশাখ, জ্যৈষ্ঠ, আষাঢ়… চৈত্র পর্যন্ত। প্রতিটি মাসে সাধারণত ২৯ বা ৩০ দিন থাকে। The Bangla calendar is the familiar panjika used in Bangladesh and by Bengali communities. A year has twelve months—from Boishakh through Choitra. Each month usually has 29 or 30 days.
আমরা স্কুলে, বাড়িতে ও উৎসবে বাংলা তারিখ ব্যবহার করি। যেমন: “আজ ১৮ জ্যৈষ্ঠ, ১৪৩৩” — এখানে ১৮ হলো দিন, জ্যৈষ্ঠ হলো মাস, ১৪৩৩ হলো বাংলা সনের বছর। We use Bangla dates at school, at home, and on festivals. For example: “Today is 18 Joishtho, 1433”—18 is the day, Joishtho is the month, and 1433 is the Bangla year.
দুই ধরনের ক্যালেন্ডারTwo kinds of calendar
বাংলাদেশে দুটো তারিখ একসাথে চলে। একটি বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডার (বাংলা সন), আরেকটি ইংরেজি বা গ্রেগরীয় ক্যালেন্ডার — যেমন ১ জুন, ২০২৬। দুটোই সঠিক; শুধু গণনার নিয়ম আলাদা। In Bangladesh we use two dates side by side. One is the Bangla calendar (Bangla era); the other is the English or Gregorian calendar—like 1 June, 2026. Both are correct—they just count differently.
বাংলা মাস ইংরেজি মাসের সঙ্গে মিলে না। বৈশাখ মাস ১৪ এপ্রিল থেকে শুরু, কিন্তু এপ্রিল ইংরেজি ক্যালেন্ডারের চতুর্থ মাস। তাই একই দিনে দুটো তারিখ দেখতে পাও — উপরে বাংলা, নিচে ইংরেজি। Bangla months do not line up with English months. Boishakh starts on 14 April, but April is the fourth month on the English calendar. That is why you often see both dates on the same day—Bangla above, English below.
বছর কখন শুরু হয়?When does the year start?
বাংলা বছর শুরু হয় বৈশাখ ১ — যাকে বলা হয় পহেলা বৈশাখ। সাধারণত ১৪ এপ্রিল (কখনও ১৫)। এই দিন দেশজুড়ে মেলা, রঙ, মিষ্টি ও “শুভ নববর্ষ” বলে আনন্দ করা হয়। The Bangla year begins on 1 Boishakh—Pohela Boishakh. It usually falls on 14 April (sometimes 15). Fairs, colours, sweets, and “Shubho Noboborsho” greetings mark the day across the country.
বাংলা সনের বছরের সংখ্যা ইংরেজি বছরের চেয়ে প্রায় ৫৯৩–৫৯৪ বছর বেশি। তাই ২০২৬ সালে বাংলা সন ১৪৩২ বা ১৪৩৩ হতে পারে — মাসের ওপর নির্ভর করে। The Bangla era year number is about 593–594 years ahead of the English year. So in 2026 the Bangla year may be 1432 or 1433, depending on the month.
৬ ঋতু — বাংলার বিশেষত্বSix seasons — a Bengali specialty
ইংরেজি ক্যালেন্ডারে সাধারণত ৪ ঋতু (গ্রীষ্ম, শরৎ, শীত, বসন্ত)। বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডারে ৬ ঋতু: গ্রীষ্ম, বর্ষা, শরৎ, হেমন্ত, শীত ও বসন্ত। প্রতি ঋতুতে ২ মাস। The English calendar usually has four seasons. The Bangla calendar has six: summer, monsoon, autumn, late autumn, winter, and spring—two months each.
ঋতু বদলালে আবহাওয়া, ফসল ও খাবার বদলায়। গ্রীষ্মে আম, বর্ষায় বৃষ্টি, শীতে পিঠা — এসব বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডারের সঙ্গে জড়িত। When seasons change, so do weather, crops, and food. Mangoes in summer, rain in monsoon, pitha in winter—these tie into the Bangla calendar.
তারিখ কীভাবে পড়ব?How to read a date
বাংলা তারিখ সাধারণত এভাবে পড়া হয়: দিন + মাস + বছর। উদাহরণ: “১৮ জ্যৈষ্ঠ, ১৪৩৩” — আঠারো তারিখ, জ্যৈষ্ঠ মাস, এক হাজার চার শত ত্রয়ত্রিশ বাংলা সন। A Bangla date is usually read as day + month + year. Example: “18 Joishtho, 1433”—the eighteenth day, Joishtho month, Bangla year 1433.
সংখ্যা বাংলায় ০, ১, ২… ৯ অঙ্কে লেখা হয়। ১৮ = ১ আর ৮, ১৪৩৩ = ১, ৪, ৩, ৩। বারের নামও বাংলায়: সোম, মঙ্গল, বুধ… Numbers use Bangla digits ০–৯. 18 is ১ and ৮; 1433 is ১, ৪, ৩, ৩. Weekdays have Bangla names too: Sunday through Saturday.
